Day 1: Arrival at Hanoi airport

You will be met at the airport by Lois, our personal Travelwiz tour guide, and a driver who will take you to the hotel. Here you will have some time to unpack, settle in and start to relax after your long journey. Any meals and sight-seeing done during this time are not part of the package but you are more than welcome to do so at your own discretion.

Day 2: Hanoi Cooking Class and City Tour
Today you start to develop your Asian culinary skills! You will be taken to a local market with Lois where you will learn about the ingredients and flavours used to develop the unique, rich flavours found in Vietnamese food. Additionally, a short talk on the art of Hanoian gastronomy, vegetables, herbs, spices will be given with the aim of teaching you to prepare and use them. The afternoon will be spent exploring the capital city, including The Temple of Literature, Hỏa Lò Prison, and West Lake (including the sedate Trấn Quốc Pagoda and the Quán Thánh Temple). Breakfast and lunch is included.

Day 3: Cruise through Halong bay
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel we will set out for a scenic 4 hour drive to Halong bay, which is a World Heritage Site. You will arrive at Tuần Châu Island and board the Pelican Halong Cruise where you will receive a briefing, on safety instructions and check in. Enjoy an extravagant buffet lunch while passing through Incense Burner, Dog Stone Islet, Fighting Cock, Soi Sim beach and Coconut Three Island. From the cruise you can also visit Lucon cave on an authentic bamboo boat. The cruise offers a massage service (please book with the Cruise Manager directly) as well as a cooking class on deck. Dinner will be served with some evening activities such as movies, leisure time, playing cards, chess and fishing to name a few.

Day 4: Fly to Da Nang
We highly recommend packing comfortable shoes for today! Starting with an early Tai Chi session on the deck, we will be treated to coffee, tea and delectable pastries for breakfast. Visit Sung Sot Cave by boat then make your way up 100 steps to the entrance. Sung Sot is one of the biggest caves in Halong bay, You will then return to the Pelican Halong Cruise for a buffet brunch and check out with bill settlement while cruising back to the Tuan Chau Wharf.

Day 5: Hội An cooking class
Enjoy a day filled culture and cuisine! Hoi An offers a major cooking class that is already in its 18 th  year and comes highly recommended in major guidebooks and on Trip Advisor. Key highlights include a boat trip from Vy’s Market Restaurant, where you can watch live cooking demonstrations and receive a 2 hour cooking class, lunch, recipes and Vietnamese cooking utensils to take home. Later, an English speaking guide will provide insight as we make our way around Hội An’s colourful central market.

Day 6: Walking tour through Hội An city
Enjoy a half day’s walk through the city bursting with eclectic architecture, skilled tailors and numerous cafes. Visit Chua Ong Pagoda, the Chinese Assembly Hall, the 200-year old Tan Ky ancestral house and the famous Japanese Bridge. After lunch you will be able to take a short boat trip to a nearby island and visit a handicraft village specializing in magnificent ceramics. Return to your hotel and enjoy an evening of relaxation.

Day 7: Visit My Son Holyland in Hội An
Today we will travel about 40km outside Hội An to My Son, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site. My Son, often referred to as “Vietnam’s Angkor Wat”, is surrounded by the Cat’s Tooth Mountain and is home to the ancient Cham ruins. You will return to Hội An in time for lunch and be able to enjoy a free afternoon of shopping and exploring the bright blue beaches.

Day 8: Fly to Saigon from Da Nang
Spend the morning exploring or purchasing your last few souvenirs before the flight to Saigon in the afternoon. Upon arrival we will be picked up by a driver and dropped off at the hotel where we will check in and have some time to relax and fully take in this beautiful new setting.

Day 9: Củ Chi tunnels tour
An early wake up precedes a drive to Củ Chi to visit the Tunnels of Củ Chi where you will have the opportunity to wander underground. The afternoon will be spent taking in the cultural highlights of Ho Chi Minh, starting with an exploration of Saigon’s turbulent past with visits to the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum. Next, sample Ho Chi Minh’s finest examples of French colonial architecture with a visit to the Notre Dame cathedral and Post Office.

Day 10: Cooking class in Mekong delta
This exciting day begins with a visit to Cái Bè’s colourful, exuberant floating market. Here you will cruise among the local barges that are practically overflowing with fruits and vegetables. Grasp the opportunity to visit some local workshops and enjoy your cooking class at a local house in the cool shade of An Binh Island’s orchards. The afternoon is spent in a traditional rowboat where you will venture deeper into the countryside and learn how farmers produce their world-renowned fruits and vegetables.

Day 11: Fly to Siem Reap from Saigon
You will leave Saigon early in the morning to fly to Siem Reap where you will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel for check in. A visit to Tonlé Sap is scheduled for the afternoon. Tonlé Sap is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in South Asia and flows into a river joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. Here you will bear witness to the miraculous floating village, which moves from place to place following water levels. Additionally, you will be taken to the ancient, authentic Phsar Chass (Old Market) where you can learn more about the local life.

Day 12: Angkor tour
For early birds, we offer a tour of the Angkor Temples, starting at 4.30am and ending at 6am as the sun rises over the magnificent landscape. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, you will be taken on a tour of the South Gate of Angkor Thom and later visit the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and Takéo ”Jewel of Crystal” which is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. The morning of tours will end off with a visit to the beautiful Ta Prohm Temple. We will be treated to a delicious lunch at the Tonlé Sap restaurant followed by a visit to Angkor Wat, one of the most breath-taking temples in Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 13: Departure from Siem Reap
Our last day is just for you. Spend it doing what you will, be it last minute shopping or packing or exploring with a camera. You will be collected from the hotel and taken to the airport for your departure flight home after an eventful and exciting 13 days making new friends, growing your cooking skills and appreciating a totally unique culture.
